PM’s Advice Sent to President for Imposition of Emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The Prime Minister’s Office has sent advice to the President of Pakistan for the imposition of an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under Articles 232 and 234 of the Constitution, citing the deteriorating law and order situation and rising terrorism in the province.

The decision was taken during a federal cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, where members were briefed on the worsening security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to a press release issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the cabinet conducted a detailed review of the situation, expressing concern over the deteriorating law and order and what it described as the provincial government’s deliberate disengagement from the fight against terrorism.

The cabinet recommended that the prime minister advise the president to exercise his constitutional powers and impose an emergency in the province in view of the gravity of the situation.

Following the cabinet’s recommendation, the Prime Minister’s Office has forwarded the advice to the President’s House for further action.
