Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye Agree to Rapid Military Deployment Under Makkah Defence Alliance

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday said Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye have agreed to provide and rapidly deploy military forces and capabilities to Saudi Arabia under the Makkah Alliance for Defence, in response to threats against the Kingdom and its holy sites.
In a statement issued after an emergency meeting of the Strategic Political and Defense Committee of the Makkah Alliance in Riyadh, the Foreign Office said the three countries had approved measures to enhance military readiness, integration and their collective ability to confront threats.
The joint statement said the required forces and military capabilities would be provided and swiftly deployed to Saudi Arabia in accordance with agreed arrangements and the national laws of the three member states.
The move is aimed at strengthening deterrence and demonstrating the credibility of the alliance's collective-defence commitments, the statement said.
Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman said the meeting reaffirmed the solidarity and unified position of the three countries against aggression targeting Saudi Arabia and the holy sanctuaries.
The three countries condemned attempts to target Makkah and Madinah, as well as attacks on Saudi cities, civilian facilities and economic infrastructure. They reaffirmed their categorical rejection of any aggression or threat to the Kingdom's security and territorial integrity.
Pakistan and Türkiye also commended the vigilance and professionalism of the Saudi Armed Forces in confronting the threats.
The Foreign Office said the alliance was also moving to institutionalise its structures, with a secretariat being established in Riyadh. Retired Pakistani Lieutenant General Nauman Mahmood has been appointed as the alliance's first secretary-general for a three-year term.
