Saudi Arabia Seeks Urgent Supply of Additional 10,000 Artillery Shells from India

Saudi Arabia has reportedly requested an urgent supply of an additional 10,000 155mm artillery shells from India amid growing security concerns over threats posed by Iran-backed Houthi rebels and escalating tensions in the Red Sea region.
According to sources, the request comes in addition to a major export order worth $225 million awarded to India's state-owned Munitions India Limited in 2024 for the supply of 155mm artillery ammunition to Saudi Arabia.
Saudi authorities have now sought an additional 10,000 shells on an urgent basis, according to the reports. The latest request is being viewed in the context of regional security challenges and concerns over potential Houthi attacks.
The development is also significant for India's defence export industry, highlighting its growing role as a supplier of military ammunition to international customers.
However, official confirmation of the additional order and details regarding the proposed delivery schedule have not yet been made available.
