Three Traffic Police Personnel Martyred in Armed Attack in Tank

Three traffic police personnel were martyred and three others, including two civilians, were injured when unidentified armed attackers opened fire on a traffic police vehicle in the Wazirabad area of Tank district on Monday, police said.

According to an initial police report, the attack took place within the jurisdiction of City Police Station. The deceased were identified as Constable Gul Amin, Constable Saleem Shah and traffic police driver Fayyaz.

Traffic In-charge Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Asmatullah was also wounded in the firing, while two passersby, identified as Qaiser and Zafar Hussain, sustained injuries and were shifted to hospital for medical treatment.

Police said the attackers fled the scene in the traffic police vehicle after the shooting.

A heavy police contingent reached the area soon after the incident and cordoned it off. A search operation has been launched to trace the attackers, while an investigation into the attack is underway.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi expressed grief over the deaths of the three police personnel and sought a report from the relevant authorities. He extended condolences to the bereaved families and colleagues of the deceased and directed officials to ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured.
