Trump Repeats Claim of Pakistan Shooting Down Seven Indian Aircraft Alongside India’s New Ambassador

US President Donald Trump was seen speaking at a White House event alongside India’s new ambassador to the United States, while reiterating his claim that Pakistan shot down seven Indian aircraft during the military confrontation between the two countries in May 2025.

Trump has repeatedly referred to the aircraft losses during the brief conflict, describing the planes as “brand new, beautiful planes.” He has also credited his threats to impose tariffs and cancel trade deals with helping bring an end to the fighting between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.

Pakistan has claimed that it downed multiple Indian military aircraft, including Rafale fighter jets, during the clashes. India has acknowledged limited aircraft losses but disputed the higher figures cited by Pakistan.

New Delhi has also rejected suggestions that Washington mediated the de-escalation, maintaining that the understanding to halt the fighting was reached through bilateral communication between India and Pakistan.
