US Sought Assurance from India to Avoid Directly Naming Pakistan in Mumbai Attacks Remarks: Source

The US State Department reportedly sought assurances from New Delhi ahead of Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s visit to India that Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar would refer to the Mumbai attacks and terrorism without directly naming Pakistan, source told Baaghi Tv.
Washington wanted the event to pay tribute to the victims of the Mumbai attacks and reaffirm a shared commitment to combating terrorism, while ensuring that it did not become a platform for direct accusations against Pakistan.
The reported approach may have been aimed at preserving improving diplomatic ties between Washington and Islamabad, avoiding further regional tensions and maintaining a strategic balance in South Asia.
Jaishankar adopted a firm stance against terrorism and called on India’s partners to demonstrate zero tolerance for the threat. However, he refrained from directly naming Pakistan in his remarks.
The reported development highlights Washington’s effort to maintain cooperation with India on counterterrorism and express solidarity with the victims of the Mumbai attacks, while also preserving diplomatic engagement with Pakistan.
