A new Dhamal written on Qalandar Lal Shahbaz by Zulfiqar Khaki

Today, the pilgrims and lovers of Hazrat Qalandar Lal Shahbaz (RA) are gathered in Sehwan Sharif to celebrate the 774th annual Urs of Qalandar Lal Shahbaz (RA), also known as ‘Lal Sain’.
A well-known writer, columnist, and a poet from Hyderabad, Sindh, Zulfiqar Khaki has paid a poetic tribute to Lal Sain in Sindhi and Urdu languages this year on 774th annual Urs of the saint.

The poetry is composed into a Dhamal for renowned comedian and singer Ghulam Asghar Khoso who sang the Dhamal in his own enthralling way of performance, titled ‘Laal Jhule Laal’ (link to the Dhamal). Whereas, international folk Sindhi singer from Mirpurkhas Sindh, Faqeer Shoukat, sang an Urdu Ghazal of Zulfiqar Khaki, titled ‘Dasto Baazu-i-Lal Qalandar Sabzwari Mir Kalaan Shah’ (link to the Ghazal in background of the documentary) for the saint namely Syed Mir Kalaan Shah Sabzwari who said to be the blood relative of Lal Sain.

The first-ever construction of shrine of Lal Sain and Mir Kalan Shah were completed by the order of Delhi’s ruler, Firoz Shah Tughlaq (Sultan of Delhi) who held his rule from 1351 to 1388 AD.
The annual three-day urs of Qalandar Lal Shahbaz (RA) is ending today, 9th February, 2026.
