Air India Express Flight Diverts to Jaipur Over Mid-Air Fuel Shortage Concerns

India: An Air India Express Boeing 737 MAX 8 operating flight IX1057 from Delhi to Bhubaneswar made an unscheduled landing in Jaipur on Wednesday following reports of a critical fuel shortage mid-flight.

The aircraft, which departed from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, diverted as a precautionary measure and landed safely at Jaipur International Airport with no damage reported. Flight tracking data showed the plane altering its course before reaching its original destination.

Initial reports, citing airline sources, pointed to fuel availability issues during the journey, prompting the diversion to the nearest suitable airport. Passengers remained safe throughout the incident, though the unscheduled stop caused significant delays, with the flight eventually reaching Bhubaneswar several hours behind schedule.

No official statement has been issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) regarding an investigation. Aviation experts noted that such diversions are standard safety protocols when pilots face uncertain conditions, whether related to fuel margins or weather.
