Bengaluru: Security Guard Arrested for Alleged TTP Links and Plot to Attack Pakistan Army

India: Bengaluru City Police have arrested a 25-year-old security guard for allegedly establishing links with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and plotting revenge attacks against the Pakistan Army.

The accused, identified as Asaful Malik, son of Abed Malik, is a native of Naupara village in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. He had been living in Jigani on the outskirts of Bengaluru and working as a security guard at a private firm in the Jigani Industrial Area since December 2025.

Acting on credible intelligence, a team from Hebbagodi police station under the Electronics City division, led by Inspector Somashekar G, detained him in the Bommasandra Industrial Area on the afternoon of August 11. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Electronics City) M. Narayana and Assistant Commissioner of Police Satish K.M.

During interrogation, police said Malik had come into contact via Facebook with an Afghan national identified as Imran Haider, who allegedly presented himself as a TTP member based in Afghanistan. Investigators claim Malik sought the man’s assistance to join the organisation and travel to Afghanistan with the stated intention of taking revenge against the Pakistan Army. He had obtained a passport and applied for a visa but could not complete the journey for various reasons.

Police recovered messages and audio recordings of calls from his mobile phone that, according to investigators, pointed to plans for revenge attacks targeting the Pakistan Army. Officers also stated that Malik harboured strong resentment over alleged atrocities by the Pakistan Army against mosques and people in Pakistan, and that he had referred to the Israel-Palestine conflict while claiming the Pakistan Army supported Israel. A senior officer further indicated that Malik had expressed an intention to target Indians if Muslims faced any trouble.

A case has been registered at Hebbagodi police station (Crime No. 423/2026) under Section 113(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with terrorist acts. Police have seized his mobile phone and are continuing the investigation to determine whether he had any local accomplices or wider network support. The allegations remain part of the ongoing probe.
