Death anniversary of painter Abdul Rahman Chughtai today

The 51st death anniversary of famous painter Abdul Rahman Chughtai is being observed today.

Born on 21 September 1897 in Lahore, Abdul Rehman Chughtai belonged to the family of the famous architect Ahmed Maymar of the Shah Jahan era.

After publishing of his pictures in Calcutta magazine Modern Review, Chughtai’s art became famous everywhere.

After the establishment of Pakistan, Abdul Rehman Chughtai not only designed one of the first four postage stamps of Pakistan, but also designed the monograms of Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Television, which are still living monuments to his art.

He died on this day in 1975 in Lahore.
