Even as the security situation in Iran has reportedly stabilized and tensions with the United States have eased, the Indian Embassy in Tehran has issued a cautious revised travel advisory, continuing to urge Indian nationals to avoid non-essential travel to the country.

The Embassy of India in Tehran stated that it has been closely monitoring the prevailing security situation in the Islamic Republic of Iran. In light of recent positive developments and the improvement in the overall situation, the Embassy has issued the following revised advisory for Indian nationals contemplating travel to Iran.

“Notwithstanding the recent improvements, Indian nationals are advised to continue to avoid all non-essential travel to Iran until further notice,” the advisory emphasized.

Indian citizens presently residing in Iran, as well as those who may be required to travel for unavoidable functional reasons, have been advised to exercise a high degree of caution, remain vigilant at all times, and maintain constant situational awareness.

This measured stance by India comes amid broader regional uncertainties in West Asia, even following de-escalation in direct confrontations. Official advisories from earlier this month had already called on Indians in Iran to exit using available means of transport, reflecting ongoing concerns over potential volatility.

The Indian government continues to recommend that citizens closely follow updates from the Embassy and local authorities. Travelers and residents are encouraged to keep travel documents ready and stay in regular contact with the mission in Tehran for the latest guidance.
