Saudi Aramco’s industrial security firefighting teams extinguished a fire that broke out early Sunday at a facility belonging to the company’s Jazan refinery in southwestern Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Ministry of Energy said.

No injuries were reported. Authorities are completing the necessary procedures to deal with the incident, the ministry stated in a post on X. It did not disclose the cause of the fire or the extent of any damage.

The blaze occurred at the Jazan complex, which is located on the Red Sea near the border with Yemen and can process up to 400,000 barrels of crude oil per day. The facility produces refined products including gasoline and ultra-low-sulfur diesel.

The refinery had been shut down on July 27 following an attack claimed by Yemen’s Houthi militants that damaged its Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle complex and tank farm area, according to industry reports. Aramco CEO Amin Nasser has said recent attacks caused some production interruptions but expressed confidence that operations could be restored quickly, with no material operational or financial impact overall.

The Jazan project forms part of a major industrial development in the region, with total investment estimated at around $21 billion.
