Former Punjab Minister and Senior Politician Syed Zaeem Hussain Qadri Passes Away at 61

Syed Zaeem Hussain Qadri, a veteran Pakistani politician, former member of the Provincial Assembly of Punjab, and recent Punjab spokesperson for the Awam Pakistan Party, died early Friday morning after suffering a heart attack. He was 61.

Family sources confirmed that Qadri, who had been unwell and admitted to a private hospital in Lahore’s Defence area for treatment over the past few days, succumbed to cardiac complications in the early hours. He was born on December 25, 1964, in Lahore.

Qadri served as a Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) from 2008 to 2018 on a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) ticket. During his tenure, he held key positions in the Punjab government under then Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, including Special Assistant on Higher Education, spokesperson for the Punjab government, and Minister for Auqaf and Religious Affairs in 2016.

A lawyer by profession, Qadri later joined the Awam Pakistan Party in 2024, where he served as a senior leader and Punjab spokesperson until his passing.

His funeral prayers are scheduled for today (Friday) after Maghrib prayer at approximately 6:30 PM at his ancestral residence, 36 Lawrence Road, Lahore.

Political figures and colleagues from across parties expressed grief over his demise, with many offering condolences and prayers. Tributes highlighted his dedication to public service and loyalty in politics.
