A goods train derailed near Setharja railway station in Naushahro Feroze district, Sindh province, early Monday, halting rail operations on both up and down tracks along the main line.

According to a statement from Pakistan Railways headquarters in Lahore, the incident occurred between Mehrabpur and Setharja stations involving a freight train traveling from Karachi toward Punjab. Approximately 10–11 wagons came off the rails, causing significant damage to the track infrastructure.

No injuries were reported among the train crew, and the derailment did not involve any passenger services directly.

Relief trains have reached the site, and restoration work is underway. Railway officials estimate that normal traffic could resume within 8–10 hours, depending on the extent of repairs. A technical team has been dispatched to investigate the cause and submit a detailed report to headquarters.

This latest mishap highlights ongoing concerns about track maintenance on Pakistan Railways’ aging network in Sindh. Similar incidents in the region have been attributed to poor infrastructure, though authorities have yet to confirm the specific reason here.

Passengers on affected routes are advised to check updates via official Pakistan Railways channels or local stations for diversions and delays.
