IndiGo Flight Suffers Mid-Air Engine Failure, Makes Emergency Landing in Goa

A Delhi-bound IndiGo flight carrying 229 passengers made a successful emergency landing at Manohar International Airport (Mopa) in North Goa on Tuesday morning after suffering a mid-air engine failure shortly after takeoff.

The scheduled domestic flight, 6E 2102, departed Goa at 9:16 AM. While climbing through 14,000 feet, the cockpit crew detected a severe technical malfunction in one of the aircraft’s engines. The pilots immediately contacted Air Traffic Control (ATC) to report the glitch and requested a priority return to the airport.

Airport authorities declared a full ground emergency at 9:30 AM, positioning fire tenders, ambulances, and rescue teams alongside the runway. The flight crew executed standard safety procedures and executed a safe landing on Runway 28 at 9:51 AM.

An IndiGo spokesperson confirmed that all 229 passengers and crew members disembarked safely without injuries. The affected aircraft has been grounded for a full technical investigation. The airline deployed a replacement aircraft later that afternoon to ferry the stranded passengers to New Delhi.
