Iran’s embassy in India has strongly rejected recent comments by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, emphasizing that Tehran’s nuclear activities are entirely peaceful and subject to oversight by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

In a detailed press statement released on Sunday, the embassy described Rubio’s remarks, made during his ongoing visit to Delhi, as an attempt to distort regional realities and deflect attention from US and Israeli policies that it claims are destabilizing the area.

The statement highlights Iran’s readiness to supply energy resources to countries including India, while blaming prolonged US sanctions for disrupting global energy markets and causing humanitarian suffering, including restrictions on medicines.

Iran reaffirmed its commitment as an NPT signatory, stating its nuclear activities remain peaceful with no diversion reported by the IAEA. It attributed disruptions in maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz to “provocative and adventurist actions” by the US and Israel, rather than Iranian actions.

Iran declared itself the “true victor” of recent confrontations, claiming the US and Israel failed in their objectives and were forced into a ceasefire after suffering a “humiliating defeat.” It asserted that Iranian armed forces remain in full readiness to defend the country’s sovereignty.

The response comes amid heightened diplomatic exchanges following recent regional tensions. Rubio had reportedly stressed during his India visit that Iran must not acquire nuclear weapons and should ensure the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz for global energy flows.
