Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) fired ballistic missiles and drones at American military installations in Kuwait Tuesday night, triggering air raid sirens and activating Kuwaiti and US air defenses in the latest flare-up of the volatile Iran-US conflict.

Kuwaiti authorities described the strikes as a “heinous” and “criminal” aggression, condemning Iran for violating sovereignty and endangering civilians. Most incoming projectiles were intercepted or fell short, with limited reported damage and injuries.

Iran framed the attack as direct retaliation for recent US strikes on Iranian facilities, including radar and drone sites on Qeshm Island near the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran accused the US of using bases in Kuwait to launch operations against Iranian targets.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed intercepting the majority of the threats, stating no major American casualties in the latest wave, though earlier incidents in the broader 2026 conflict have resulted in injuries to US personnel and Kuwaiti civilians.

Explosions were reported near military sites, and Kuwait International Airport temporarily suspended operations. A motorway accident linked to the chaos was also noted.

Oil prices spiked on fears of wider disruption in the Persian Gulf. Diplomats warn of further escalation risks as both sides trade blows while claiming to seek de-escalation.
