JD Vance, Modi Discuss India-US Strategic Partnership, Trade and Defence Cooperation
US Vice President JD Vance spoke by telephone with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday, with the two leaders discussing ways to further strengthen the comprehensive global strategic partnership between India and the United States.
According to Indian sources, the discussion covered continued cooperation and negotiations in several key areas, including trade, tariffs, defence, energy and technology.
The two leaders also discussed Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey’s growing defence cooperation, US policy regarding India’s purchases of Russian energy, and the ongoing India-US trade negotiations, the sources said.
During the conversation, Prime Minister Modi congratulated Vice President Vance on the birth of his son, Alec Neil Vance. Vance and his wife welcomed their son approximately three weeks ago.
