Khawaja Saad Rafique Discharged After Successful Angioplasty

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz senior leader and former federal minister Khawaja Saad Rafique was hospitalized after suffering a sudden heart attack but has since been discharged in stable condition following emergency medical intervention.

According to multiple reports and the politician’s own statement, Rafique experienced severe chest pain and an abnormally elevated heart rate on the night of February 16. He was immediately rushed to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology in Lahore, a leading cardiac facility.

Doctors performed an emergency angioplasty procedure, during which a single stent was inserted to restore proper blood flow. Hospital sources and medical officials confirmed that the intervention was successful, with Rafique’s condition stabilizing rapidly. He remained under observation for two days before being discharged.

In a direct message posted on his X account (@KhSaad_Rafique), Rafique addressed well-wishers, stating: “On the night of February 16, I suddenly felt heart discomfort, and my heart rate became much faster than normal. I was taken to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology. The doctors performed angioplasty and inserted a stent. I have now been discharged from the hospital and am doing well. Friends and well-wishers, please do not worry. Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes.”

Political figures, including Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, expressed relief over the successful procedure and prayed for his full recovery. The Speaker highlighted Rafique’s contributions to public service and noted that the nation stands with him during this time.
