King Charles Meets Pakistan Cricket Team and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi at Clarence House

London: King Charles III held a special audience with the Pakistan men’s Test cricket team and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi at the historic Clarence House on Wednesday.

The meeting took place in the gardens of Clarence House during the break between the second and third Test matches of Pakistan’s ongoing series against England. Buckingham Palace had confirmed the engagement earlier, noting that His Majesty, as Head of the Commonwealth, would receive the touring side.

According to reports, King Charles interacted with the Pakistani players and team officials in a cordial atmosphere. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who also serves as Pakistan’s Interior Minister, was present at the occasion. British High Commissioner to Pakistan Jane Marriott and Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the UK Tipu Usman also attended.

During the interaction, King Charles discussed cricket with the visitors and held talks with Mohsin Naqvi on Pakistan’s efforts in counter-terrorism and maintaining peace and security in the country. The British High Commissioner highlighted Pakistan’s and Naqvi’s significant role in promoting regional peace.

Speaking to the media afterwards, Mohsin Naqvi described the meeting as highly productive. He said the King encouraged the players and appreciated Pakistan’s contributions toward peace.

The royal audience comes amid Pakistan’s challenging Test series in England and follows earlier off-field tensions related to a Sky Sports interview involving the sons of former Pakistan captain and prime minister Imran Khan.

Following the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi departed the United Kingdom for Pakistan.
