Lahore Gymkhana Club Election 2026: Dr. Ali Razaque Tops Polls as Committee Sees Competitive Shift

The Lahore Gymkhana Club held its annual Committee of Management (COM) elections on February 14, 2026, with 39 candidates vying for the 12 elected seats on the prestigious club’s governing body. Polling took place in a peaceful atmosphere at the club’s Upper Mall premises, drawing 3,158 votes from eligible members.

The club’s Election Commission announced the results late on February 14, declaring the top 12 vote-getters as successful. Dr. Ali Razaque topped the poll with 1,772 votes, followed closely by Salman Siddique (1,733 votes) and Mian Misbah-ur-Rehman (1,700 votes).

The full list of elected members, in order of votes received, is as follows:

9. Tasneem Noorani – 1,297 votes
10. Mian Parvez Bhandara – 1,268 votes
11. M. Zia-ur-Rehman – 1,220 votes
12. Mrs. Samaira Nazir – 1,201 votes

The outcome reflects a competitive field, with representation from multiple factions. Incumbent figures like Salman Siddique, Mian Misbah-ur-Rehman, Wajid Aziz Khan, and Sarmad Nadeem retained strong support, while challengers associated with the “Monopoly Breakers” panel including Dr. Ali Razaque, Ahmad Nawaz Sukhera, Kamran Lashari, Tasneem Noorani, Dr. Jawad Sajid Khan, and Zia-ur-Rehman secured several key positions. Mrs. Samaira Nazir’s election marks continued female representation on the committee.

Compared to the 2025 elections, where the Siddique-Misbah panel dominated with 10 of 12 seats, this year’s results show a more balanced distribution, indicating heightened contestation amid pre-election campaigns by at least three panels including the Salman-Misbah group, Monopoly Breakers led by Sukhera and Razaque, and the Reformer Panel.

The newly elected 12-member COM is expected to convene shortly to select the Chairman for the term and assign portfolios such as finance, entertainment, golf, and sports. No major irregularities were reported during the process, with candidate agents participating in polling and counting.

The Lahore Gymkhana, a historic institution founded in 1878 and spanning 117 acres, remains a key social and sporting hub for Lahore’s elite.
