Lufthansa Airbus A380 Lands Too Early at Munich Airport, Damages Runway Lights

A Lufthansa Airbus A380 carrying 351 passengers landed prematurely at Munich Airport on Monday evening, damaging runway lights, the German airline confirmed.

Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to its designated terminal position, where all passengers disembarked normally, Lufthansa said.

Germany’s Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation (BFU) has launched an investigation into the incident. Lufthansa said it was fully cooperating with the authorities and supporting the investigation.

The incident occurred just two days after a Vietnam Airlines Boeing 787 Dreamliner overshot the end of the same runway during a troubled take-off. The aircraft reportedly struggled to accelerate during the take-off roll and narrowly avoided an accident.

The two incidents have drawn attention to recent aviation safety events at Munich Airport, although authorities have not indicated any connection between them.
