Pakistan Successfully Tests Indigenous Air-Launched Cruise Missile ‘Taimoor’
The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has achieved a significant milestone in its defence capabilities with the successful flight test of the indigenously developed Taimoor (also spelled Taimur) air-launched cruise missile, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced.
According to the ISPR statement issued on January 3, 2026, the missile was launched from a PAF Dassault Mirage III fighter aircraft and accurately struck its designated target after covering a range of up to 600 kilometres. The test demonstrated the weapon system’s high precision, technical maturity, and ability to engage both land and sea targets effectively.
The Taimoor is a subsonic, terrain-hugging and sea-skimming cruise missile equipped with a conventional warhead and advanced navigation and guidance systems. Designed to fly at very low altitudes, it is intended to evade hostile air and missile defence systems, enhancing the PAF’s operational flexibility and conventional deterrence posture.
The Air Chief commended the test as a testament to Pakistan’s resolve for technological self-reliance and innovation in its aerospace and defence industry. The successful trial underscores the PAF’s ongoing efforts to strengthen national security through indigenous development.
