Pakistan Vows Unconditional Military Support to Saudi Arabia Amid Escalating Iran Conflict

Pakistan has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to defend Saudi Arabia, declaring it will provide support “no matter what and no matter when” as Iranian missile and drone strikes continue to target Gulf states amid the ongoing regional war involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.

In a Bloomberg TV interview, Mosharraf Zaidi, spokesperson for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, emphasized the deep-rooted security partnership between Islamabad and Riyadh. “There is no question we might, we will come to Saudi Arabia’s aid, no matter what and no matter when,” Zaidi stated. He highlighted that both nations have long operated on the principle of mutual support, a bond formalized and strengthened by the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement signed in Riyadh on September 17, 2025.

The pact explicitly treats aggression against one country as aggression against both, building on decades of military cooperation that includes Pakistani troops stationed in the Kingdom since the 1960s and joint training programs.

Zaidi’s remarks come as Iran intensifies retaliatory attacks on Saudi infrastructure and U.S. assets in the Gulf following earlier U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iranian targets. Saudi Arabia has reciprocated by ensuring stable oil and diesel supplies to Pakistan amid the global energy disruptions caused by the conflict.

The declaration underscores Pakistan’s prioritization of its Sunni Gulf alliances, particularly with Saudi Arabia, even as it navigates a delicate position near its border with Shiite-majority Iran. Pakistani officials have previously reminded Tehran of the defense obligations to Riyadh, while urging de-escalation to prevent a wider regional war.
