PMML Announces Nationwide Tree Plantation Drive on Earth Day

shajarkari

Lahore — The Pakistan Markazi Muslim League (PMML) has announced a three-day nationwide tree plantation campaign from April 24 to 26 under the slogan “Green Pakistan, Safe Pakistan” in connection with Earth Day. The campaign will include tree plantation activities across the country along with an awareness drive on environmental protection.
President of the PMML, Khalid Masood Sindhu, said that planting trees is essential for human survival and environmental sustainability. He emphasized that Earth Day should serve as a reminder to collectively pledge to keep Pakistan green and prosperous, adding that protecting the country in every respect is a shared national responsibility.
He noted that environmental degradation, declining soil fertility, unplanned urban expansion, and industrial waste have caused significant damage to the country’s ecosystem, with adverse effects on both the economy and public health. He stressed that immediate measures are required to address environmental pollution and restore ecological balance.
Khalid Masood Sandhu further stated that Pakistan has, in recent years, been repeatedly affected by floods, which he attributed to climate change as well as poor planning and governance. He urged the government to adopt a comprehensive and long-term strategy that includes modern water management systems, effective dam management, large-scale plantation drives, and strict enforcement of environmental laws.
He emphasized the need for collective action to protect the environment and ensure a greener and safer Pakistan for future generations.
