Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday expressed deep shock over a shooting incident at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner in Washington, D.C., while conveying relief that US President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, and other attendees remained unharmed.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Sharif said: “Deeply shocked by the disturbing shooting incident at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner in Washington, D.C., a short while ago. Relieved to know that President Trump, the First Lady, and other attendees are safe. My thoughts and prayers are with him, and I wish him continued safety and well-being.”
Sharif’s reaction aligns with Pakistan’s consistent condemnation of violence and its emphasis on strong bilateral ties with the United States.
