Speaker Ayaz Sadiq Meets Bangladesh Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus in Dhaka

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly, held a courtesy call with Bangladesh’s interim Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Wednesday during his visit to attend the state funeral of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

Speaker Sadiq conveyed condolences on the passing of Khaleda Zia and discussed opportunities to further strengthen bilateral ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh amid recent improvements in relations.

Sadiq, who arrived in Dhaka earlier in the day, also paid respects at Khaleda Zia’s residence, meeting her son and BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman to express sympathies on behalf of Pakistan’s government, parliament, and people.

The funeral prayers for Khaleda Zia, who died on December 30 at age 80, were held at Manik Mia Avenue near the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, attended by thousands of mourners and regional leaders, including Chief Adviser Yunus.
