Zabihullah Mujahid, the official spokesperson for Afghanistan’s Taliban government, issued a statement accusing Pakistan of destroying major weapons depots in overnight airstrikes on Nangarhar (including Jalalabad) and Kandahar provinces, while reiterating a unilateral ceasefire declaration.

In the statement, Mujahid emphasized that the weaponry, much of it left behind by U.S. and NATO forces during their 2021 withdrawal, was intended solely for Afghanistan’s defense and not for use against Pakistan. He alleged that Pakistani forces deliberately targeted and destroyed these stockpiles in recent bombings, calling on the international community to take notice.

“We have officially announced a ceasefire for the past 24 hours and conveyed messages to all friendly countries that our territory will not be used against Pakistan in the future,” Mujahid stated. He described the fighting between two Islamic nations as “not right” and urged de-escalation through dialogue.

The conflict stems from long-standing Pakistani accusations that the Taliban government provides safe haven to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants launching attacks inside Pakistan.
