US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has stated that India continues to raise the issue of armed terrorist groups operating from Pakistani territory as a major and persistent security concern.

Speaking to reporters during his visit to New Delhi, Rubio clarified that India did not object to Pakistan’s role in US-Iran talks. Instead, New Delhi focused on cross-border terrorism threats. “India consistently points to the fact that armed terrorist groups based in Pakistan carry out attacks against India. This remains a constant concern for them,” Rubio said.

The top US diplomat emphasized that Washington is committed to further strengthening counter-terrorism cooperation with India. His remarks come amid ongoing Indian demands for action against Pakistan-linked militant groups, particularly Lashkar-e-Taiba.

Rubio’s visit aims to deepen the US-India strategic partnership, with discussions covering trade, energy, and security cooperation. He held key meetings with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, where both sides agreed on joint measures to combat terrorism.

Rubio made it clear that America’s practical engagement with Pakistan will not affect its strong strategic partnership with India.
