Legendary Bollywood screenwriter Salim Khan, father of superstar Salman Khan and one half of the iconic Salim-Javed duo, remains in stable condition at Lilavati Hospital after suffering a minimal brain haemorrhage. The 90-year-old was admitted on Tuesday morning following a sudden health deterioration.

According to Dr. Jalil Parkar, the treating physician at Lilavati Hospital, Salim Khan experienced a very minimal and minor brain haemorrhage, which has been successfully managed. Doctors performed a Digital Subtraction Angiography procedure, a diagnostic and interventional neurological step, this morning under neurosurgeon Dr. Nitin Dange. No major surgery was required.

The veteran writer has been placed on ventilator support as a precautionary measure to facilitate investigations, control high blood pressure, and prevent any potential worsening of his condition. Dr. Parkar emphasized that this is not due to criticality: “The ventilator was a safeguard… He was not as critical as shown on certain news channels.” Salim Khan is conscious, stable, and under close observation in the ICU.

Doctors remain optimistic, stating: “By tomorrow, we hope to get him off the ventilator… All in all, he is doing quite well.” Recovery may take slightly longer due to his advanced age, but the haemorrhage has been tackled effectively.

Family members, including Salman Khan, have been at the hospital since admission. Visitors from the industry have included Javed Akhtar, Salim’s longtime writing partner, Sangeeta Bijlani, and others offering support and prayers.
