Viral ‘Donald Trump’ Buffalo Spared from Eid Sacrifice in Bangladesh

Bangladesh: A rare albino buffalo nicknamed “Donald Trump” for its distinctive blond tuft of hair has been spared from sacrifice during Eid al-Adha after going viral on social media, authorities confirmed.

The nearly 700-kilogram male buffalo, known for its pinkish-white coat and comb-over-style blond hair resembling the U.S. president’s look, was originally set to be ritually slaughtered for the Muslim festival.

Videos and photos of the animal quickly spread online, attracting millions of views and sparking widespread public campaigns to save it. Bangladesh’s Home Minister intervened, ordering the buffalo spared, the buyer refunded, and the animal relocated to the Bangladesh National Zoo in Dhaka.

The buffalo’s former owner had given it the “Donald Trump” nickname because of its unusual blond fringe. Zoo officials have prepared a special enclosure for the calm animal, where it will now live as a public attraction instead of becoming part of the Eid sacrifice.

Animal lovers and netizens welcomed the decision, hailing it as a victory for the unique young buffalo. The case underscores the growing influence of social media in shaping local outcomes in Bangladesh.
