World Leaders Unite at India AI Impact Summit 2026 in Landmark Gathering for Responsible AI

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined an array of prominent global leaders for a historic group photograph at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, underscoring India’s pivotal role in shaping the future of artificial intelligence for inclusive growth, ethical governance, and sustainable development.

The high-profile assembly at Bharat Mandapam included French President Emmanuel Macron, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi HH Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Netherlands Prime Minister Dick Schoof, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Swiss President Guy Parmelin, Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, Estonian President Alar Karis, and several other heads of state and government representatives.

The summit, hosted by India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology under the IndiaAI Mission, marks the first major global AI forum led by a Global South nation. Running from February 16-20, 2026, the event builds on previous international AI summits in the UK, France, and South Korea, shifting focus from discussion to tangible, action-oriented impact.

Modi welcomed the dignitaries and participated in key sessions, including a leaders’ plenary and CEO roundtable, while also touring country pavilions at the accompanying India AI Impact Expo. The gathering highlights India’s vision of democratizing AI,  making advanced technology accessible, responsible, and beneficial for humanity, the planet, and progress.

With participation from over 45 countries, more than 500 global AI leaders, tech executives, and policymakers, the summit emphasizes “small AI” solutions for low-resource settings, infrastructure access, health applications, and economic productivity. World leaders’ presence signals strong multilateral commitment to collaborative AI governance amid rapid technological advancement.

The event continues through February 20, featuring thematic discussions, exhibitions, and announcements aimed at driving real-world AI impact worldwide.
