KARACHI (Reviewit) — December 30, 2025: Renowned Pakistani drama writer Zanjabeel Asim Shah has expressed her dissatisfaction with the production team of the currently airing drama Pamaal and Green Entertainment, revealing that significant changes were made to her original script without her approval.

Zanjabeel Asim Shah, who has penned several acclaimed dramas including: Bashar Momin, Cheekh, Pyar Ke Sadqay, and Bismil, is currently receiving praise for Pamaal, which has garnered strong critical and audience response. However, despite the drama’s success, the writer has raised serious concerns about how her work was handled during production.

In a recent interview with Rabia Mughni on Fuchsia Magazine’s YouTube show, Zanjabeel spoke candidly about the issue, stating that the drama being aired is not the same draft she had originally submitted. She revealed that the storyline, situations, and even the title of the project were changed without her consent.

According to Zanjabeel, the original title of the drama was Possible, and its central character, Malika, was written as a simple household woman who never aspired to become a writer but discovered her talent naturally. “Writing came to her by chance, and she was intelligent enough to make the most of the opportunities that came her way,” Zanjabeel explained, adding that the revised version altered the very essence of the character and the concept.

She further shared that she had written the drama chapter-wise, but later additions and changes were made without consulting her. “Even scenes were added later without my permission,” she said, noting that such alterations significantly changed the meaning and direction of the story.

While acknowledging that the production team also has commercial considerations, Zanjabeel made it clear that she remains unhappy with how the matter was handled. “Now that the drama has gone too far, and the way the team has made it, I don’t say much because they also have to think about sellable points,” she remarked. “But I do have complaints. You should not mess with a writer’s craft.”
