Punjab Bans Issuance of Handwritten Receipts

The Punjab government has imposed a ban on the issuance of handwritten or unofficial receipts by businesses across the province.

Under the new regulations, the Electronic Invoice Monitoring System (EIMS) will be mandatory for all hotels, restaurants, coffee shops and marriage halls.

Businesses will be required to issue customers receipts containing the business name, address, receipt number and PRA QR code.

Failure to issue receipts through the Electronic Invoice Monitoring System will result in fines ranging from Rs4 lakh to Rs10 lakh.

Businesses found repeatedly violating the regulations may also be sealed for up to one month.

The government has further prohibited the issuance of kitchen order slips, unpaid bills or similar documents as receipts to customers.
