Putin to Visit Delhi in September for BRICS Summit, Kremlin Announces

Russian President Vladimir Putin will travel to India’s capital in September to attend the 18th BRICS Summit, the Kremlin confirmed on Tuesday.

Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov stated that Putin will participate in the summit, scheduled for September 12-13 in New Delhi. India is hosting the event under its 2026 BRICS chairmanship, with the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.”

This will mark Putin’s second visit to India in less than a year, following his trip in December 2025 for bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Those discussions focused on strengthening defense, energy, and trade ties between the two nations.

The upcoming BRICS gathering will bring together leaders from Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, and newer members including Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the UAE. Discussions are expected to cover economic cooperation, multipolarity, trade in local currencies, and global governance reforms.
