Ranveer Singh Credits Ambani Family for ‘Dhurandhar’ Success, Calls Their Support a ‘Blessing’

Bollywood star Ranveer Singh has attributed the massive success of his blockbuster spy franchise Dhurandhar to the unwavering backing of the Ambani family, describing their support during a challenging phase in his career as “nothing short of a blessing.”

In a rare appearance in the Reliance documentary Parvah Hai Toh Parivar Hai, aired on the channel Reliance Updates, the actor spoke candidly about the difficulties of mounting and executing the ambitious project. Directed by Aditya Dhar and produced under Jio Studios, the two-part franchise, Dhurandhar (2025) and Dhurandhar: The Revenge (2026), went on to become one of Indian cinema’s biggest commercial triumphs, collectively crossing Rs.3,000 crore worldwide.

“Dhurandhar was not an easy film to mount, not an easy film to execute. There were several challenges,” Ranveer said. He praised the decision to back the film firmly and with conviction, noting that the team knew success would mean breaking new ground. “I was given all the love, all the support and all the encouragement. Even at a time when my movies were not doing well. You have ups and downs in career but to have received that kind of support meant a lot to me. It is nothing short of a blessing, an honour, and a privilege to be associated with the Ambani family.”

The comments come against the backdrop of a period when several of Ranveer’s earlier films had underperformed commercially, creating uncertainty around his box-office standing. Industry observers have previously noted that Jio Studios’ willingness to invest heavily, reportedly in the range of Rs.300 crore or more, on a director with limited prior credits and an actor navigating a career low proved decisive.

The first film alone became one of the highest-grossing Indian releases of its time, with the sequel surpassing it and helping the franchise set new benchmarks in collections, release strategy and audience engagement. Mukesh Ambani had earlier highlighted the films’ contribution in a letter to shareholders, noting Jio Studios’ run of consecutive highest-grossing titles.

Ranveer also lauded Nita Ambani’s efforts in promoting Indian culture, talent and achievements on the global stage, calling the family’s broader contributions across sports, entertainment, arts, education and philanthropy “incomparable.”
