Baaghi TV has learnt that after a gap of seventeen years, Swat’s Saidu Sharif Airport has been rehabilitated by welcoming its first flight.

According to reports, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight PK650 is the first to land on the airport from Islamabad. The flight reportedly carried on-board Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan, Federal Minister for Communications Murad Saeed, and Federal Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) completed the necessary arrangements, according to reports. Federal Minister Murad Saeed has expressed hope that the second phase of international flights may commence from Saidu Sharif airport. Meanwhile, Federal Minister Ghulam Sarwar has expressed that the move to restore the airport is a welcome move.

A spokesperson for PIA has confirmed that flights had been suspended since 2004 however, will now be operational from Islamabad for two days in a week. They will then be connected to flights from Karachi and Lahore, respectively.
