Second wave of corona, emergency alert issued to hospitals in Lahore

The Punjab Health Department has issued an emergency alert to major hospitals in Lahore.

The Punjab government has directed to reactivate Expo Field Hospital. The notification said that Hall No. 2 of the Expo Center should be activated immediately for corona patients. Patients suffering from oxygen deprivation will be admitted to the field hospital.

Four major hospitals in Lahore have been directed to keep high dependency units and ICUs active. Mayo, Services, Jinnah and Lahore General Hospital have been directed to be ready for Corona cases.

On the other hand, the neglect of precautionary measures in the markets has led to fears of the spread of corona. While citizens are busy shopping without masks, the administration looks helpless.

SOPs are not being implemented on Hall Road, Ichhra and other markets. Women and children are also busy shopping.

It is to be noted that pertaining the the Expo Center Lahore, the PML-N has strongly criticized the expenditure incurred on the quarantine center set up for COVID-19 patients. PML-N member Punjab Assembly Hina Pervaiz Butt tweeted on social networking site Twitter that 600 patients of Corona were quarantined at Expo Center Lahore but the rent became Rs. 55 crore. It is pertinent to note that the highest number of deaths due to corona is in Punjab where 3,137 people have lost their lives. There have been 2,991 deaths in Sindh, 1,399 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 334 in Islamabad, 98 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 169 in Balochistan and 175 in Azad Kashmir.
