Coronavirus cases are on the rise in Karachi once again, with reports of 53 new cases in the last 24-hours and 146 cases in the last week. 

According to a statement issued by Aga Khan University Karachi, staff and students have tested positive. In the last seven days, 146 people have tested positive with another 53 confirmed cases in the last 24 hours as coronavirus is once again on the rise across Karachi.

Per reports of the Sindh Health Department (SHD), the rate of positivity has reached 12.91% in a week. Meanwhile, according to the National Institute of Health (NIH), nearly 129 people have tested positive for the virus across Pakistan. According to the NIH, the coronavirus positivity ratio has been recorded at 2.98 percent in Pakistan.

On the other hand, the NIH said that 4,334 tests were conducted yesterday of which fourteen people are critical. Likewise, Aga Khan University Karachi issued a statement confirming their staff and students were experiencing symptoms including cold, fever, and seasonal fever.

According to the statement, the institute said that covid-19 continues to affect people so ensuring the implementation of the student SOPs as well as healthcare workers is essential. The statement read that staff and students must wear masks, and get a booster dose shot if six months have passed since their last shot. Additionally, the University Hospital cautioned staff to wear PPE while examining patients with symptoms similar to Coronavirus.

Moreover, an increase in patients has been recorded in the Sindh Infectious Disease Hospital. According to a doctor, the rate of covid-19 patients has increased during the last two weeks. According to him, the symptoms include chest pain, infection, and high fever. More so, the virus affects the chest and lungs rapidly so citizens should turn to wearing masks and following other covid-19 SOPs, as they are the only solution against the virus.
