Student abduction at Shah Latif University: Chief Justice takes notice

KARACHI: Chief Justice Sindh High Court takes notice on the Student Abduction Case at Shah Latif University, Khairpur.

According to details, Chief Justice Sindh High Court Ahmed Ali M Sheikh has summoned Deputy Commissioner Khairpur and SSP Khairpur on Tuesday, December 28. The Chief Justice has also ordered the registrar of Shah Latif University to appear before the court.

It may be recalled that the Chief Justice has also sought a separate report from District and Sessions Judge Khairpur on the tragic incident of abduction of a student at Shah Latif University.

It is to be noted that on Ranipur National Highway yesterday, more than seven accused stopped the university bus at gunpoint and tried to abduct the student. When the students tried to resist, the accused struck them leaving seven students injured.

Regarding the incident, student Khushboo Bhatti said that Safdar Wasaan forcibly stopped the bus and boarded it with armed boys. The accused insulted the female students in the bus and tried to kidnap her.

University students were outraged at the news of abduction of the student and injuries of their colleagues, thus they took to national highway at Ranipur and staged a sit-in.

The protesting students were of the view that the accused involved in the incident should be arrested immediately and they should be punished. They said that their protest will continue until the accused are caught.
