According to Baaghi TV reports, a local court in Islamabad has sentenced the main accused in the Noor Muqaddam murder case, Zahir Jaffer, to death.

Senior investigative journalist and anchorperson, Mubasher Lucman, tweeted on the social networking website Twitter, “Alhamdolillah Darinda anjaam ki taraf ja raha hai“.

In another tweet, Mubasher Lucman said that Zahir Jaffer was sentenced to death by the court. This is a painful day for Noor Muqaddam’s family. However, we pray that this verdict will bring them peace of mind and that the death sentence of the accused will remain the same in the next courts.

Senior journalist Mubasher Lucman has repeatedly raised his voice for the Noor Muqaddam murder case. He was not only threatened but also sent legal notices. Still, Lucman persevered and remained active to bring justice to Noor Muqaddam. He kept raising his voice on his official YouTube channel and Twitter. In addition, the case was given full coverage on Baaghi TV as well. 

Earlier, Farrukh Habib, Assistant to the Prime Minister for Information, said that it was welcome that the main accused in the Noor-e-Muqaddam murder case was given exemplary punishment. This decision will be a warning sign for such brutal criminals. There should be a speedy trial of such cases in other courts of the country also so that those responsible can reach the punishment.

According to the report of Baaghi TV, the verdict in the Noor Muqaddam murder case has been announced. The court sentenced Zahir Jaffer, the main accused in the Noor Muqaddam murder case, to death. Additional Sessions Judge Ata Rabbani sentenced the main accused Zahir Jaffer to death. The court sentenced co-accused Zahir Jaffer’s employees Jamil and Iftikhar to 10 years in prison.

A large number of people were present at the time of the verdict including former Ambassador Shaukat Muqaddam – father of the victim, lawyers, and media representatives. Strict security arrangements were made for the occasion with a heavy contingent of police deployed outside the court. The main accused Zahir Jaffer was also presented in court at the time the verdict was passed. 

It is pertinent to note that former Ambassador Shaukat Ali Muqaddam’s daughter was killed last year. Shaukat Muqaddam’s, 27-year-old daughter who was killed in the jurisdiction of Kohsar police station Islamabad, while giving a statement regarding the murder said he had received a call from Kohsar police station that his daughter had been killed. He added that when “I arrived at the scene, my daughter’s throat was slit”.

According to Baaghi TV reports, a case of murder of Noor Muqaddam has been registered in Kohsar police station. Police say a case has been registered under Section 302 of the IPC on the complaint of the girl’s father Shaukat Ali Muqaddam.
