‘The Great Flood’ Retains Top Spot on Netflix Non-English Chart for Fourth Week
SEOUL — January 15, 2026: South Korean sci-fi disaster film The Great Flood (2025) has continued its strong performance on Netflix, securing the number one position on the platform’s non-English movies chart for the fourth consecutive week, according to data released by the streaming service on Wednesday.
The Netflix original, directed by Kim Byung-woo, recorded 5.2 million views in the week ending January 11. It surpassed the Indian courtroom drama Haq (2025), which ranked second with 4.5 million views during the same period.

Owing to its sustained viewership, The Great Flood has now climbed to seventh place on Netflix’s all-time list of most-watched non-English films. It currently stands as the only South Korean production to feature in the platform’s global top 10 in this category.

Released on December 19, the film centers on An-na, portrayed by Kim Da-mi, a single mother who wakes up with her six-year-old son in the midst of a catastrophic flood that engulfs their apartment complex and spreads across the world. The story follows her struggle to survive and protect her child as rising waters trap residents inside the building.

In related chart updates, director Yeon Sang-ho’s mystery drama The Ugly (2025) made its debut at number five on the weekly non-English movies list, attracting around 2 million views in its opening week.
Based on Yeon’s 2018 graphic novel of the same title, the film tells the story of Dong-hwan, played by Park Jeong-min, who investigates the unexplained disappearance of his mother decades earlier. The narrative unfolds through his relationship with his blind father, a master seal engraver portrayed by Kwon Hae-hyo.
Netflix has not yet commented on whether either film will see further international releases beyond the platform.
