Ukrainian MiG-29 Crashes in Odesa Region During Combat Mission

A Ukrainian Air Force MiG-29 fighter jet crashed in Odesa Oblast on the evening of August 10 during a combat mission, the Ukrainian Air Force confirmed.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the pilot was carrying out a mission to engage enemy aerial targets when an emergency occurred during the launch of an air-to-air missile.
The aircraft caught fire, and the pilot was unable to maintain control despite attempts to save the fighter. The pilot subsequently ejected safely and was evacuated to a medical facility.
The exact cause of the incident remains under investigation. Videos circulating online appear to show a smoke trail followed by the aircraft descending toward the ground.
Odesa and the surrounding region have repeatedly come under Russian drone and missile attacks since the start of the war. The incident represents another loss of a Ukrainian combat aircraft amid ongoing air-defence and counter-air operations.
The Ukrainian Air Force said the pilot survived the crash and is receiving medical treatment.
