U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has announced that Washington is moving forward with plans for the joint production of Javelin anti-tank guided missiles with India, underscoring the growing defense partnership between the two countries.

Speaking at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, Hegseth said the United States views India as a key strategic partner in the Indo-Pacific region and is working to expand defense-industrial cooperation through joint manufacturing initiatives.

He noted that India’s ongoing military modernization, its expanding presence in the Indian Ocean, and its potential logistical support capabilities are of significant importance to U.S. naval operations in the region.

Hegseth emphasized that both nations are strengthening defense ties by enhancing co-production and technology collaboration, aimed at boosting indigenous manufacturing capabilities and improving interoperability between their armed forces.

The remarks reflect the continued deepening of U.S.-India defense cooperation as both countries seek to reinforce security partnerships and maintain stability across the Indo-Pacific region.
