US Intensifies Airstrikes on Iranian Targets as Tehran Launches Retaliatory attack on American Bases Across Gulf Region

The United States has conducted heavy bombing raids on multiple sites across Iran, prompting swift retaliation from Tehran, which fired missiles and drones at U.S. military installations in Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan, according to officials from both sides.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed ongoing operations targeting Iranian missile and drone facilities, coastal defenses, and related infrastructure, primarily focused on areas near the Strait of Hormuz. These strikes aim to degrade Iran’s capacity to threaten commercial shipping in the vital waterway.

In response, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for missile and drone assaults on American bases in the region. Iranian state media and military statements described the attacks as direct retaliation against U.S. aggression.

U.S. officials reported that more than 50,000 American troops are now deployed across the Middle East under CENTCOM to support these operations and bolster regional defenses amid the escalating conflict.

The latest exchanges mark a significant intensification in hostilities centered on control and security of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global oil transit. U.S. strikes have hit sites in locations including Bandar Abbas, Qeshm Island, Bushehr, and other southern Iranian areas, with reports of explosions and damage to military infrastructure.

Iranian forces targeted U.S.-linked bases in Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan. Regional allies reported intercepting many incoming projectiles, with varying degrees of damage and limited casualties reported so far. Jordan’s air defenses, for instance, engaged multiple threats, while Kuwait and Bahrain activated their systems against the salvos.

President Donald Trump and senior U.S. military leaders have framed the operations as necessary to protect international navigation and respond to Iranian provocations. Iran, meanwhile, has condemned the U.S. actions as violations of prior understandings and vowed further responses if attacks continue.

The situation remains fluid, with fears of broader regional involvement growing. Oil prices have surged amid the uncertainty, and shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has been disrupted. International calls for de-escalation are mounting as both sides continue tit-for-tat operations.
