U.S President Joe Biden leaves for Europe on a mission to bolster Western unity

Feb 17, 2022: According to a report by AFP, U.S President Joe Biden said on Thursday that the threat of a Russian attack on Ukraine was “very high” and that it could happen in a few days, despite Moscow’s claims of withdrawing troops from the border.

Biden told reporters at the White House that the risk was “very high because they have not withdrawn any of their troops. Every sign we have is that they are ready to go to and invade Ukraine,” he said. “I think it will happen in the next few days.” Biden said he had not yet read any new written response from US President Vladimir Putin to U.S proposals to end the stalemate.

Russia’s military has surrounded most of Ukraine’s borders in order to reverse the country’s long-term Western policy, including its accession to NATO. Biden said there was still a “diplomatic route” and that Secretary of State Antony Blinken would “point it out” in a speech at the United Nations on Thursday. However, Biden said, “I have no plans of calling Putin.”
