According to media reports, the glasses are expected to be auctioned in October, this year prior to which they will be kept on public display in New York, Hong Kong, and London. According to CNN, the spectacles are designed to “help the wearer reach entitlement and ward off evil”.
Edward Gibbs, Chairman of Sotheby’s Middle East and India has said, that the glasses are an “extraordinary example” of jewelry from the 17th Century, Mughal era with their unparalleled craftsmanship and sophisticated design. Additionally, Gibbs has speculated that the unique glasses could only have belonged to either the King or a high-ranking official from the King’s inner circle. According to him, a gemstone of this size would have been brought “straight to the Mughal court”.

According to reports, the lenses of one pair of spectacles are estimated at 200 carats named the “Halo of Light”. Meanwhile, the other is estimated at 300 carats of emerald and named “gate of Evil”. According to Sotheby’s the two pairs are estimated to be worth 3.5 million dollars.
