LONDON (NotebookCheck) — August 28, 2026: Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note 17 5G in the European market, bringing a large battery, AMOLED display and extended software support to the company’s latest mid-range smartphone.
The European model comes with a 7,700mAh battery and supports 45W wired charging. It also offers 22.5W reverse wired charging, allowing the phone to provide power to compatible devices. The battery is slightly smaller than the 8,000mAh unit offered in the Indian version.

The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 processor, manufactured using a 4nm process. It is offered with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, although the supplied specifications indicate that the European model does not provide a microSD card slot.
The Redmi Note 17 5G features a 6.99-inch AMOLED display with a 2396×1080 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Xiaomi also lists peak brightness of up to 1,800 nits, while Corning Gorilla Glass 7i is used for display protection.
For photography, the phone has a 50MP main rear camera and a 16MP front camera. Neither camera supports 4K video recording, according to the specifications supplied for the device.

The phone runs Android 16 with Xiaomi’s HyperOS. One of its notable features is the promised software support: Xiaomi says the device will receive four major Android operating system upgrades and six years of security updates. This would extend security support into 2032 if the stated schedule is maintained.
Additional features include an in-display fingerprint reader, dual speakers, an infrared blaster, NFC, Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity.
The European Redmi Note 17 5G is available in Celestial Purple, Sky Teal and Black. The 6GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration is priced at €379.90 in Germany, according to MediaMarkt’s current listing.
Xiaomi has also introduced a 4G version of the Redmi Note 17. It retains much of the same hardware but uses a different processor, the Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2. The 4G model starts at €249.90 for the 4GB/128GB configuration, according to the supplied launch information.
