Actor Kiefer Sutherland Arrested in Hollywood After Alleged Assault
(BBC) — January 14, 2026: Canadian actor Kiefer Sutherland was arrested early Monday morning in Hollywood following an alleged confrontation with a ride-share driver, according to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).
Police said officers responded to a call about an assault involving a ride-share vehicle near Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue just after midnight. Upon arrival, authorities determined that the 59-year-old actor had entered the vehicle, physically assaulted the driver and made criminal threats, the department confirmed.

The driver did not suffer injuries that required treatment at the scene, officials added. Sutherland was taken into custody at the location and later booked into the LAPD jail. He was released after posting a $50,000 bond and is expected to appear in Los Angeles court on February 2.
The LAPD’s Hollywood Division continues to investigate the incident. Requests for comment from Sutherland’s representatives were not immediately returned.

Sutherland rose to international fame for his role as Jack Bauer in the long-running television series 24, and has also appeared in films such as The Lost Boys and A Few Good Men. He has faced legal issues previously, including arrests related to alcohol-related offences and other incidents earlier in his career.
Authorities emphasized that the investigation remains active and urged anyone with information to cooperate with law enforcement as the case progresses.
