China-Pakistan hold joint consultation on UN affairs

Mr. Yang Tao, Director-General of the Department of International Organizations and Conferences of the Foreign Ministry of China along with Usman Iqbal Jadoon, Director-General (United Nations) of the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan chaired the 3rd Round of Round of China-Pakistan Consultations on the United Nations Affairs by video conference on the 8th of April, 2021.

According to reports, the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, the Pakistan Embassy in China and the Permanent Missions of Pakistan, China to the UN also attended the meeting from New York and Geneva. During the video conference, views concerning multilateral issues of mutual interest were discussed.

Pakistan and Chinese officials reportedly agreed on safeguarding multilateralism and continued support for the role of the United Nations, strengthening bilateral cooperation, peaceful resolution of regional issues, and countering terrorism along with peacekeeping work in line with the UN framework.
Moreover, the parties agreed to make contributions to the maintenance of international and regional peace and security as well as opposing the politicization of human rights.
